Kenai River Salmon Fishing

The Kenai River is the most famous salmon fishing destination in Alaska — arguabiity the entire world — for the giant King salmon found only in this one river. If you are planning an Alaska salmon trip in the near future we hope you consider calling us for a complete run down of everything we have to offer.

King Salmon in the Kenai River

Typically, we start seeing catchable numbers of king salmon show up in the Kenai River by mid to late May. Some of these fish are real hoggs and fishing them in the spring waters is a real treat.

The Kenai River boasts major runs of four of Alaska's five salmon species — king, sockeye, silver and pink — in addition to trophy sized rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. Kenai River kings, commonly referred to as Chinook salmon in other areas of the country, are among the largest salmon in the world.

The king salmon of the Kenai often weighing in from 50 to over 85 pounds.
