The Dolley Varden is not as known
as the Rainbow Trout, but they play
an important part in the cycle of
our streams and rivers, by eating
the good/dead eggs and pieces and
parts of decaying fish that have spawned.
The Dolley are also fun to catch.
They don't fight as well as a Rainbow
Trout, but they will give a 4 wt.
fly rod a work out.
They vary in sizes of 1 lb. to 10
lbs. While you are trying to catch
that trophy, you will catch a lot
of smaller dollies. They fight a lot
different than the Rainbow Trout does.
When you hook and Rainbow, it jumps
out of the water trying to get rid
of the hook. When you hook a Dolley
it stays down and fights with a hard
pulling weight.

The Dolley is a great fighting fish,
and is one of the prettiest in the
river.
