Coho (Silver) Salmon
These fish are some of the prettiest in
the river. They have greenish-blue backs
with silver sides. Small black spots on
the back, dorsal fin and usually on the
upper lobe of the tail only.
Spawning Coho Salmon develop green and
black heads and dark brown to maroon bodies.
They start entering into the river towards
the end of July and are here until fall.
These fish are great to catch because they
put up such an amazing fight!! They grow
up to about 35 inches and most average weight
is 8-15 lbs. They have a firm texture and
such an awesome taste. They are great when
smoked or when simply fried in a pan with
some seasoning. They are also good for freezing
and enjoying it later.
